Corey LeFort building a new PEIDA portable dart stand

The Prince Edward Island Darts Association (PEIDA) has taken a leap into building their future of darts with the creation of portable dartboard stands made from lumber, hardware, and lighting donated from Spring Valley Castle Building Supplies, and Summerside Kent Building Supplies. This initiative aims to enhance the dart-playing experience for all future events and provide a safer and more versatile platform for all dart players. This is just one of current projects to increase infrastructure.

Traditionally, dartboards are mounted on walls, limiting the flexibility of play locations. PEIDA recognized the need for a solution which would allow darts players to enjoy the game in various settings for major tournaments like our upcoming dart opens and provincial qualifying events, while minimizing the setup, and tear down times on either end.

The new portable dartboard stands, conceived and designed by our president Stephen Clow and equipment manager Corey LeFort, are constructed using high-quality supplies, ensuring durability and stability. One of the standout features of these innovative stands is the physical and electrical connectivity of each stand, allowing as many or as little number of stands to be used for each event.

PEIDA President, Stephen Clow, commented on the significance of this development, saying, "We wanted to make the sport of darts more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. These portable dartboard stands offer us the flexibility to set up and tear down for games wherever we like. We believe this will help grow the dart community on the island, and sets us up long term for any event we would like to hold. "

In addition to their portability and lighting, these stands are designed to be easily assembled and disassembled, making them a convenient choice for both recreational and competitive situations.

The PEI Darts Association's Equipment Manager, Corey LeFort, played a crucial role in overseeing the design and production of these stands. LeFort stated, "We are thrilled to introduce these portable dartboard stands to the dart community. Our aim is to ensure that every player, from beginners to pros, can enjoy the game of darts with a professional feel and style."

The creation of all 17 stands, as well as the stage board, was a remarkable team effort. Our dedicated executive board members invested their precious spare time measuring, cutting, assembling, and painting these structures.

These portable stands are set to make their debut at the highly anticipated RED ROCK OPEN, scheduled from October 20 to 22, 2023, at the Rodd Royalty in Charlottetown, PE. This marks a significant milestone in our continuous endeavor to elevate the world of darts on Prince Edward Island, setting the stage for an exciting future for the sport.
